Nationwide archery participation grows steadily each year, and even your favorite celebrities want in on the hype. These celebrities were recently spotted shooting archery on set and in the backyard. Alert your fellow fan-clubbers. We’d love to shoot archery with these 11 celebrities.
1. Nicole Scherzinger
The former Pussy Cat Doll turned solo artist was one of six contestants on NBC’s breakout summer series “I Can Do That.” Each week, six contestants watched several acts, chose their favorite, and practiced to perform it for the next episode.
After only five days of practice, Scherzinger impressed the audience by arrowing the middle while shooting a crossbow from a split.
2. Jeff Dye
The “Last Comic Standing” comedian performed alongside Scherzinger on the June 9 “I Can Do That” episode. Although he didn’t shoot from a split position like Scherzinger, he wowed viewers with a behind-the-back crossbow shot.
3. Alexander Ludwig
You might recognize Ludwig as “Hunger Games” tribute Cato. He lost in the battle against Katniss Everdeen, but his archery skills catapulted him to greatness as Bjorn Lothbrok on History’s “Vikings.”
The historically based series is packed with battle scenes featuring swords, shields and, you guessed it, bows and arrows. “Vikings” wrapped up Season 3 in April, but you can catch the crossbow and longbow action again in 2016 on History.
4. Amy Manson
“Once Upon A Time” producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz unveiled Merida, of “Brave” fame, as the ABC drama’s newest princess at 2015 Comic Con in San Diego. The teaser clip featured a hooded archer hitting a bull’s-eye, and then shooting a Robin Hood with her second arrow. Manson confirmed her role as the Scottish princess via Twitter.
Watch her in the season premiere on Sunday, Sept. 27.
5. Sophie Turner
You might recognize Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark from “Game of Thrones.” According to an Instagram post by director Bryan Singer, she’s learning archery for her upcoming role as Jean Grey in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
Turner’s character Jean Grey has been featured in several X-Men movies with telepathic and telekinetic powers, but this is the first time her character will shoot a bow. Maybe screen mate Jennifer Lawrence will pass along some archery tips from Olympian and coach Khatuna Lorig in time for the May 27, 2016, debut.
6. Craig Morgan
Craig Morgan is the voice behind country music hits “What I Love About Sunday,” “Redneck Yacht Club,” “Almost Home” and, most recently, “Wake Up Lovin’ You.” Morgan is a big supporter of the outdoors and bowhunting. He was recently seen bowhunting on Outdoor Channel’s “All Access Outdoors.”
As the show’s host, Morgan gives fans an all-access pass to his travels, hunts and performances. The show is described as “a must-see for hardcore hunters and country music fans everywhere.” In addition to being that show’s host, Morgan served as the 2014 National Hunting and Fishing Day honorary chairman, and he’s appeared several times at the ATA Trade Show.
7 and 8. Jimmy Fallon and Mark Wahlberg
This dynamic duo went head to head in a “Tonight Show” archery challenge. Equipped with helmets, chest protectors and arm protectors, Fallon and Wahlberg used miniature bows and foam-tipped arrows to knock an assortment of items – balls, popcorn and Fruity Pebbles – off each other’s heads. Although the two tied, it’s easy to name the real archery master. Watch the video and see for yourself.
9. Jamie Lynn Spears
Jamie Lynn is the younger sister of pop icon Britney Spears. She was the star of Disney Channel’s “Zoey 101,” and launched a solo music career in 2013. She shot for #TeamJustin at the 2015 ACM and Cabela’s Great Outdoor Archery Event in April.
10. Dude Perfect
According to Instagram and Snapchat, the dudes of Dude Perfect did some bowfishing while touring Bass Pro Shops in Colorado. Could they be planning Archery Trick Shots, Part 2? We sure hope so.
11. Jeremy Renner
The most recent Avengers installment just hit theaters, yet Hawkeye’s Jeremy Renner is already suited up and on the range, bow in hand. We’re still waiting for a teaser trailer, but his tweet is a good indication that 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War” will be archery-awesome.
