When S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Clint Barton/Hawkeye appears with other Marvel superheroes in “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” he’ll shoot a Hoyt bow.
George Tekmitchov, Hoyt/Easton engineer, confirmed the Hawkeye-Hoyt pairing Jan. 23 on Twitter.

Tekmitchov wouldn’t confirm which Hoyt bow Hawkeye will wield, but said it won’t be an Ion-X.
@mattzolman good guess. But wrong! 😉

Come to think of it, no one confirmed Hawkeye will be the hero shooting the Hoyt recurve. In his solo poster for “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Hawkeye is holding a compound bow. If he shoots a compound in the next Avengers movie, it won’t be the first time. Hawkeye picked up a Mathews compound bow instead of a sniper rifle when he first appeared in “Thor” in 2011.
By the time “The Avengers” hit theaters in 2012, Hawkeye was shooting a solid-black Hoyt Buffalo recurve with false hinge pieces added to give the illusion the bow could fold. These action figures show Hawkeye with his bow, and one actually folds.
In the Marvel comics, Hawkeye usually shoots right-handed. Since actor Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye on the big screen, is left-handed, the character draws his bow with his left hand. When shooting a bow, your dominant eye – the eye you’ll use for aiming – is more important than your dominant hand. Visit getting started in archery to help determine your dominant eye.
As for who will shoot a Hoyt, and which Hoyt they’ll shoot, fans must wait and see. “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” is due for U.S. release May 1, 2015.
